31-year-old invites ailing 89-year-old neighbor to move in with him

When Norma reached 89, her health started to decline rapidly. During a hospital visit, Salvatore learned that Cook would not be permitted to return home unless she was given round-the-clock care. She felt at a loss without her own children or relatives nearby.

Salvatore set up a GoFundMe campaign for Cook on the internet. The 31-year-old felt he needed to do more when his two best buddies put a few caretakers to the test.

He told today that she had no other option except to enter a facility. When it came to my granny, “I could not do that to her.”

Cook was granted the go-ahead to occupy his new residence.

In a GoFundMe post, Salvatore said he was “delighted” he could give his mother the gift of spending her dying days at home with him. It’s hard for me to fathom dying in a hospital away from loved ones and pets.

The two proved to be fantastic housemates.

Cook told TODAY, “We constantly monitor the news.” “We mostly speak and sip Champagne while munching on peanuts.”

On February 15, 2017, the beloved Cook died away. Salvatore shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, where he usually recorded the couple’s travels.

Salvatore referred to Cook as “the grandchild she never had.”

Salvatore was under no obligation to help Cook in any way, but he couldn’t take the thought of her dying alone in a hospital
